    BeetleBoss and I got a new box with XP on it along with a printer and a digital camera. Now if I can get the XP secured, I might be all right. And tips appreciated. HELP!!!

    I think by now most computer manufacturers should be already shipping XP SP2 together with all their computers.
    If the new computer that you bought does not have SP2 yet, you'll have to download and install it.

    Thanks for the cheers BigBuck. To tell you the truth, I don't know whether SP2 is installed or not. I haven't even got the new box out of the box it's packed in yet. It's too early in the morning to be that motivated. That is going to be a priority though. I'm thinking instead of running the built-in FW, putting ZA on it instead. Better to have inbound and outbound protection instead of just inbound which I have read is what XP's got. It will be different than 98. I just hope I'm not too old to adapt to such a drastic change. :eek:

    You're never too old......think you will love XP too! I just hope it's got SP2 (surely it should have!).....it will save you a huuuuuge download.....about 300Mb! SP2 has a new security centre as below;
    Cheers,
    Buck.
    PS. SP2 will 'lock down' a lot of stuff for you.....I found myself having to 'loosen' settings a bit for browsing etc.

    (From BJ) Well another disapointment from the PC makers. I had to d/l and install SP2 plus a whole lot of other updates before it would even let me d/l SP2. I started the d/l process at the time of my first post, and at the time of this post I've been done for about 10 minutes. Yawn!!!!
    :p

    Well the good news is that after installing SP2 the updates will be 'incremental', so they'll go much faster from now on :)

    LOL ... No I like it in here ... Good Security ... just don't no why Santa passed me over ... I've got both a roof and a chimney ... & even left out some ~Spirits~, cookies and carrots. I guess I was listed on the wrong list. :mad: ... I'll have to try harder to be good this year.

    My children got some good stuff. Nothing really special in the tech. line of stuff, but I got just what I told my spouse to give me. I am so pleased she took me seriously.

    A very small credit card bill this year. :D
