    Hi

what can i use to shut down the monitor when i want ?

    i tried nircmd.exe cmdwait 1000 monitor off , it's a very cool utility

but after a while the monitor turn on again , i guess it's the mouse

i tried Shutter, very cool program portable , but after a job there is now way to have a loop of actions

in short would be great shut down the monitor and turn on only stroking a keyboard key

Its a pain to do it - just activate Windows screensaver.

If you really MUST shut down your monitor - here's how to do it -

click the Control Panel Applet, click Power Options, then click Choose When To Turn Off Your Display

Click the Turn Off The Display slider and choose the length of time you want to turn off the monitor. Click the Save tab when finished.

    You're done! :thumb:

    +1 on this :thumb:

    I do this as well

    Windows 8 Power Plan...

Mine is set to Balanced, My display turns off after 10 minutes of being idle, and my computer goes to sleep after 30 minutes of being idle.

A click of the mouse or a tap of a key on the keyboard wakes it up...works quite well.

For that, why don't you just press the physical power button of the monitor or close the laptop lid?

If you go into the Device Manager and open the properties for the mouse there should be a power management tab. There you can uncheck "allow this device to wake the computer".

    Check your bios.
Do you have enabled the option "USB mouse support"? If yes, disable it and let the OS handle it.

mantra, the "Allow this device to wake the computer" only applies to waking from standby, it doesn't control the program used to shut the monitor off. If you want to prevent the mouse from turning the monitor back on you'll have to find a program that has that option. I'd try some of those pandlouk listed. I was trying out different ones awhile back for my laptop and I think some of them have that ability but unfortunately I can't remember which ones. I finally got CloseMonitor.

    http://appnee.com/closemonitor/

It's the smallest one I could find and I'm just careful not to move the mouse.

If you disable USB mouse support in BIOS it won't change anything in the operating system. It'll just disable USB mouse support for BIOS and DOS.
