what are these folders

Hi
Running XP-SP2
these folders appear in C:\Windows
AU_Backup(its subfolders: 1, 2 and 3)
AU_Log
AU_Temp(subfolders: 1, 2, 3 and AU_Down)
backup(subfolder: S)
they look strange to me. what are they and can I safely delete them.Thanks

 

Try right clicking them and look at the properties and see if you can tell what they are.

Actually before posting I tried but nothing more than size in Mb. There is a DAT file(50426000.DAT) google bounces back. I do check regularly but this time I was buzy and the only thing I remember is that I did 3 or 4 online scanning(I 0nly remember 2:RAV and trend micro). I usually delete all there ActiveX. could it be related.

 

Being an AU file could it be an autoupdate file?

I deleted them to recyclebin for safety measure first, rebooted and every thing was ok. then tried a few online scanners, they reappeared when Trendmicro online scanner was used (they belong to it). Thank you very much
