After using ABP for years, I switched to Adblock Edge over privacy concerns with the ABP "emergency notification" mechanism that can't be opted out of.

Ditto here. I just wish that ABP would be explaining what the emergency notification is all about.

Reminds me: my license expires in november. I'm going to renew.

I have been using Ad Muncher for nearly ten years now and still consider it the best piece of software I ever paid for.

I been using it for 5 to 7 years but still agree with you on it being the best piece of software!

Think it started in 1999! Right when the internet started getting ads.

But why not? Can't think of browsing without an ad-blocker. Too much advertisement clots webpages these days. Feels choking. ABP saves the day.:D:thumb:

Yes why not :) I'm not sure why really, I like to keep my browser/s as clean as possible, but I guess the thing is that I don't have a huge issue with the ads, except the ones that popup over the whole screen, plus if the website has a huge amount of flash based ads, they tend to make things really slow. But if the websites increase the amount of ads on the sites, then I will eventually get a vaccine against them, but at the moment I can live with them as weird as it may sound :D

That's my opinion too. I don't have a problem with the vast majority of ads, and even sometimes find them useful, if there's an ad for a program or service I might want to use. Because of this, I don't want them blocked.

I do have an issue with the increasing amount of ads on download websites with download buttons, as it is all to easy for less experienced users to end up downloading the advertised program instead of the one the want. But, since I know better than to click on the wrong download button, it's not much of an issue for me. Also, I don't like the intellitext type ads whereby ads are inserted into the text content of a webpage as hyperlinks.

But, other than that, at worst, I find advertising to be only slightly annoying.

Someone should close this poll and make a new one. Adblock lite doesn't exist anymore and there are new adblockers on the market such as Adguard.
