Here is the deal. I was never supposed to be the lead developer for VS. But just like every project, everyone is excited in the beginning, but they soon realize that there is a lot more involved then they initially anticipated. The two original developers and myself thought that creating a simple desktop shield gadget / computer lock would take no more than 3-4 months. I mean really, how hard could it be, right? ;). I have worked with 6-7 developers on VS, and they are all great guys, but it takes a long time to add new features and to fix the bugs. What happens is that they get frustrated because they do not realize what all is involved.

So I can either try to find a new developer AGAIN, or I can continue to do what I can do to get VS where we want it to be. I try my best to make everyone happy, but there is only so much I can do. Believe me, NO ONE wants VS to be finished more than me ;). I already spend 60-80 hours a week just on VS, with little or no support from anyone, except for the users on Wilder's. I have made TONS of progress, but still have quite a bit more to do.

Piter, I never begged you to remove the YouTube videos. All I ask is that if you post videos of VS's bugs, that maybe you explain a little more what the video is about.

    Hello

    ~ Removed OT Comment ~
I was looking at Voodoo's web app section.

I decided to auto detect additional running web apps.

    See screen shots.

But when I do the double click to browse, I get the same pop up window and not sure what is going on.

Even if this did do anything , What would a home user use it for?

The big button detects any apps that are using http, so you can use this to detect new web apps that toggle VS.

The double click on the text boxes is to add them manually. I hope this helps, if not, please let me know!

Well, like for example if someone wanted to add a less common web browser or something, so that VS would toggle with it as well.

That option should be in the version you are running... in Settings / Advanced - The very last option listed "Show allow button for false positives if a threat is detected."

The link to list more detected threats should be there... if not, I just need to fix it real quick. Can you please post a screenshot? It will be an easy fix.

Actually I am not sure if it was or not, but I think it is now for sure. I will post a link to the new version as soon as I know for sure. Thank you!

Installed 2.20b over 2.20a, no hiccups, except for flagging it as malware gen when launched. ;)

Glad to see the old "Save & Close" back in settings (trust me it's better for the regular new users to VS, they're used to being walked through the steps). ;)

A few posts back someone mentioned the "hide shield when running program full screen" was not working When 2.20a was released. It's been working like a charm since ver 2.20a in my system. But it was a little buggy on previous versions.

I'll report back with any other findings.
    Keep it up Dan!

    Best regards,

    Just installed 2.20b.

I place the icon elsewhere on the screen but on updating over the top the position is not remembered althougth the transparency is.

I do find that the icon is always in the wrong place and its status can be changed by accident. I know there is a Hide option but maybe that could be changed to unhide the icon whenever the status changes. A short time limit could be put on it.

Hmmm, that is odd. In Settings - Tweaks Tab, do you have the Automatically Position the Desktop Shield Gadget unchecked? It seems to be working for me, but if it is not working for you, please let me know!

I tried something like what you are talking about a while back... about showing the shield when the status changes, but it looked kind of funny to me, but I can try it again and see what happens! Thank you!

Here is the latest version. I believe the service issue is 100% fixed. It was a VERY obscure but simple bug. Basically, the GUI communicates with the service through a pipe, and that pipe used http binding, although it really had no reason to do so. So on some systems, the VS service would wait for the http service to start before it would start. Anyway, it is fixed ;). But man, that was a tough one to figure out.

In this version, you will notice that the tray icon comes up first. Then once VS finishes all of the initialization code, then the desktop shield gadget will appear. We can change it back to the other way at some point, but I think you guys will like this after you get used to it.

I install most of my programs on another partition and have set the Program Files folders to be allowed in VS, however when I run them they are challenged.

That explains how you code so fast and maintain VS all by yourself these days, not to mention how quick you get all these betas out! :D
I seem to rely on Red Bull often myself and could not go without it. :thumb:

A Worrying quirk to the way voodooshield handles new files at windows startup.

It sees a file that it doesnt know about puts up a prompt but the network connection is not up yet in xp (outpost? or normal xp behaviour?)
so it offers a cancel prompt only. In the meantime the program loads despite no decision by VS.
It should offer a delay decision or block behaviour NOT just allow the potential malicious program to load.
In this case it was processhacker (task manager replacement)
