I installed VS on my Laptop, and after rebooting to complete the installation VoodooShield.exe failed to run. The VS tray icon was missing from the desktop taskbar. Only VoodooShieldService.exe was running in the task manager. I manually accessed VS by using the desktop shortcut. The VS GUI loaded, and VS is now present in the taskbar except it is hidden due to the taskbar settings. I attempted to customize the taskbar settings in order to to display VS tray icon, but when I click on customize nothing happens. It does not respond at all. NOD 32 tray icon also failed to load in the desktop taskbar. egui.exe failed to run which is NOD 32's GUI service. After I opened NOD 32 from programs NOD 32 GUI opened, but NOD 32 is still missing from the desktop taskbar. I'm going to reboot to see what happens.

    Edited: I'm using Windows 7 X64 SP1.

I tried restarting Windows, and Windows said it was unable to shutdown due to explorer.exe running. Windows asked if I wanted to force Windows to shutdown, and waited for about 30 seconds without any change. I then chose the option to force Windows to shutdown. Windows has been saying it is logging off for the past 15 minutes now. Looks like I will have to roll my Laptop back to an image I made just before installing VS.

I had to do a hard shutdown. I've rebooted twice now, and VS tray icon is still missing. VoodooShield.exe still will not run at startup. I still have the same problem with NOD 32. egui.exe still will not run at startup, and NOD 32 tray icon is missing. I'm using Windows 7 X 64.

I'm going to roll my laptop back, and try installing VS again.

Sounds good, thank you for helping us test. For now, please set the VoodooShieldService service to Manual Start Up (not Automatic), and launch the GUI manually. Everything you described are things we are working on.

Yes, the VS 2.0 beta has the "automatic virus scan" built in that scans with 50 scan engines, and it is super, super fast. It is almost too fast so the upload screen pretty much just blinks (so we might want to slow it down a little), then if a virus is detected, it switches to the screen that allows the user to either quarantine or block the file. We have to make some small adjustments that is dependent on what options are checked in VS's settings, but they are easy to make. We also have to decide whether to alert the user one more time if a virus is not detected, or if it is better to just run the file. Right now, if a virus is not detected, VS just runs the file since the user already clicked the balloon to allow the file. But once the real beta is ready, everyone can try it and let us know what they think we should do. Thank you!

What if the file is new for the database? will VS upload it automatically and present the result in the popup? maybe with a progress bar in the popup until the results appear?

Yes, exactly, then it will take however long the upload takes, and it has approximately a 100mb upload limit on the file size. But it will be extremely uncommon for the database to not contain the file. It is hard for us to find that is not in the database to test with. Right now there is a progress circle, but does not show the remaining upload time, but hopefully we can show the remaining upload time as well. Thank you!

I have installed it and in the first bot it has not appeared in the tray icon and when I clicked on the shorcut this I got this popup

"There was no endpoint listening at net.pipe://localhost/NetNamedPipeBinding1 that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details.
    "

I'm using comodo which I suspect could be interfering with VS, after disable CIS and restart the pc it worked

EDIT: still doesn't work well, on every restart both tray icons are missing, VS and CIS, could you please investigate about the compatibility with CIS?

Thank you for letting us know. It might be bet to just set the VoodooShieldService to Manual instead of automatic for this version, then launch the GUI from the desktop icon. We will have the real beta version ready very soon, most likely before Saturday, if not Sunday for sure. The only remaining bugs are pretty easy to fix, but a little time consuming. Thank you!

I reinstalled VS, and configured it to only launch manually. Windows still will not shut down after installing VS. Windows says logging off in a never ending loop. The only other real-time security application I have installed is NOD 32 (AV only). Is this a known bug?

Manually shutting down VS before rebooting resolves the issue. Maybe Windows is having trouble shutting down VS. Maybe it could have something to do with VS self defense mechanism.

I was able to run an installer (.exe) from the userspace without a peep out of VS. I'm operating in Always On Mode. I tried to access VS settings after this, but when I clicked on settings it did not respond at all. If I click on VS tray icon I get a Microsoft .NET Framework error. I cannot take a screenshot of the error because MS Paint does not even work now.

I had to kill VS from the task manager since right click exit did not respond on VS tray icon. I was also unable to Access Control Panel until killing VS from the Task Manager. MS Paint is working now. I'm using Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1.

Yes, hopefully these issues will be fixed in the version we will be releasing in the next couple of days, and hopefully it will be stable on all versions of Windows, including 8.1. Thank you!

Here is a beta version of VS 2.0. There are still a few things that we are working on, and there might be a couple of small bugs, but overall it is pretty stable. Please let us know what you think!

It is a beta version, so please do not install on a "mission critical" computer!

    Thank you!

Ok will try this right now.
    --------------------------
Update: Not stable on Win 8.1. Made system sluggish and nonresponsive after first reboot. VS icon did not appear in the tray. Startbutton and charms bar beacame unresposive, so did explorer.
Had to reboot again to safemode to remove VS.

Yes, there are still a couple of Windows 8.1 issues, hopefully they will be resolved this week.

I would uninstall the first beta just to be safe, then install the new one, then reboot. It should work fine either way, but just to be sure ;).

    Thank you!

BTW, if VS does not seem to be running well after rebooting, just stop and start the VoodooShieldService, then launch the GUI. It will be fixed in the next version!
