It looks like the new version puts the installer file size over the 20 MB limit for Virustotal & Jotti's Malwarescan.

The file offered on Filehippo is not the same as on Videolan's Homepage, Filehippo's MD5 is 349188E13A3B06B6D67122132AD64507 and Videolan's is 926B2A1332775D6X23FD276351639A74. Both are named vlc-1.1.10-win32.exe and both are 20.0MB o_O

I read in some forums that...
But just can't see this change referenced on their site for now!

I did the update to .10 when it was first posted here. In view of the above info, I just now did a check-for-updates from within the player, and it advised that my version was up to date.

Anyone know for sure whether VLC's check for updates will reliably catch the new build of the same version?

After I read ruinebabine's post, I took a peek in my VLC directory first. Nothing *appeared* to be untoward; VLC's update checker also yielded nothing.

Subsequently, I downloaded (again) the 1.1.10 file from the VLC link and installed it. I then noticed that, although the executable and several other files appeared to be identical, a few .dll files seemed to have a new date (old dated 6/5, new dated 6/6).

Bottom line, IMHO, is it probably wouldn't hurt to download and install again (pretty simple and quick procedure, anyway).

The built-in update checker finally saw the 1.1.10 yesterday so I just used that one.

Cool, I've been waiting for this one, fixes that nasty memory leak in the PulseAudio module (hopefully)
