Discovered there is a new ~10GB file that gets updated under "System Volume Information", with name
    "C:\System Volume Information\{32291efa-19d3-11dd-bc4c-001636c05a1c}{3808876b-c176-4e48-b7ae-04046e6cc752}"
Does anyone know what this is? Wasn't there prior to SP1 installation. Can I just exclude it in ATI10 or is it an essential part of the restore process now? The size does change when it is updated, but haven't figured out anything about it yet.

The System Volume Information folder in Win XP (no experience with Vista) is a hidden folder in the root of the system drive that contains the System Restore data. This folder does get included in images created by TrueImage 10.

Thanks, discovered the cause was residue left behind by Vista SP1 installation that shows up in the restore files in case you want to do an uninstall. Found instructions on how to remove it; size of file is back to normal.

Can you post the link to where the instructions were for removing this unnecessary file once you are sure SP1 is good for you?

In Windows XP, SP2 had an uninstall file, but it was typically only 200-250MB. That's nice to eliminate, but not nearly as important as dumping a 10GB piece of uninstall junk.

The uninstall file left by Vista after updating to SP1 was 800 MB on my system. It can be removed by running the Vista SP1 clean utility by typing the following from a command prompt:
    Code:
    vsp1cln
If the OP's image size shrank by 10 GB then it was due to also deleting the shadow copies/restore points on the disk. Only 0.8 GB was due to the Vista SP1 uninstall files.

I have access to System Volume Information and could see the individual restore point increase to ~12 GB under Vista Ultimate with SP1. Other computer using Vista Home Premium with SP1 has not exhibited it so far, still ~1GB. Procedure in reference got restore point back to normal. Don't know why the dramatic difference in size. Had already cleaned out with Disk Clean and used CCleaner when I noticed the dramatic size increase in ATI. If your setup exhibits the problem, then check out the reference.

    Hello sded,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Please be aware that Vista restore points are not saved as actual files, so it's not possible to exclude them from backups. Please have a look at this article for some details on Vista restore points structure.

    Thank you.
