vista premium and hp3970 scanner

    I am having problems getting my scanner to show up in my computer. The scanner shows in device manager and also works but when I open my computer it does not show. I have plugged the scanner into different USB ports with the same results. I have a flash drive and when I plug it into any USB port it shows in my computer.

    not sure its meant to.
    my hp scanner doesnt show in my computer on my xp machine.
    its a hp all in on unit and the only thing that shows in my computer is the card reader.

    I had an xp home edition before I bought my new computer and the scanner was in my computer.
