    Start++

Windows Vista only: Desktop utility Start++ supercharges Vista's Start menu search field with configurable key commands.

With Start++ installed, by default you can:

    * Run a Wikipedia search by typing w Han Solo
    * Launch an app as an administrator with sudo cmd
    * Play music by a specific artist with play Portishead

sorry for posting one post after another, but there's something wrong with my vista because when i post all my carriage returns and spaces disappear so it looks really muddled lol i think it's fixed now i'm using IE

i was just looking through some Lifehacker posts and here are some which are useful for vista -

    Windows Vista upgrade power tips

    Enhance window controls with PowerMenu

Download of the Day: Opcion - a Free font-viewing program

Swept Away is a simple system tray utility that automatically minimizes applications that you aren't using.

Completely remove programs with Revo Uninstaller

    The self-repairing hard drive

    What to Install After Re-Formatting?

Clean Up Your Folder Structure with Remove Empty Directories this might not be very useful, but there are better links mentioned in the comments!

Manage Your Windows with Switcher 2

Incorporate text files onto your desktop

Tag files and save searches in Windows Vista

Compare and merge files and folders with WinMerge

Speed up file copying with TeraCopy

    Task scheduler - Xecutor

i haven't tried any of these programs and tips yet, i thought someone might find something useful and at the same time i can use this post next time i'm using vista
