I guess Microsoft Windows Vista Build 5270 is a beta version.
    Why vista compatible AV?

Thanks! Nod32 and Avast! are my two AVs of choice, so I'm glad they work.

Well, Nod32 will run, but I can't access the control centre, probably the UAP settings.

    Windows Vista

Hmmm, I wonder which versions of current AV products will run in Windows Vista?

    Any news?

Symantec has a version of it's Corporate AV(SAV) that will work on it.

Is the question really, "will it run?" Shouldn't the question be "will it run properly and be effective?" Sorry for the semantics, but I would rather know which AV is going to be most effective. Is Vista going to be such a significant change that it renders current AVs less useful?

Yes, Vista is not only a significant software change, it is going to require many folkes to get new hardware.

Not to mention many apps that AV software would intereact with will change significantly, e.g., MSFT Office.

Not to mention that prices of systems/components will likely be lower N months down the road, and the increased demand for 64 bit systems should cause prices to lower quickly.

Well, latest avast! 4.7 is running perfectly on the latest Vista Beta build.
So it will run on Vista for sure as soon as it's released.

Well, as a matter of fact, avast is not too compatible with the current Vista beta builds, but the 4.7 version should be compatible with the upcoming Vista beta2 (due in about 3 weeks).

    Thanks
    Vlk
