    Okay.
Well in that case they are on a clear road for disaster.I know running with no av is possible and i have toyed with the idea myself, but the majority of people run with a av and firewall as standard.

Like i have said before,if i have a file which is nearly 80mb in size then VT is not much use is it?

different strokes for different folks and all that.

the filesize limit at VirusTotal for the moment is 64 megs.
it might not be enough for you but it works for me and other people.

Think of it like this: before this update VirusTotal wasn't helpful if you had a 50MB file either. But now they upped the file size limit so now you can upload larger files than before.

Of course, uploading large files for scanning is a significant use of bandwidth (and also scanning time) so perhaps that's why the limit exists to begin with.

If you have a file that is 80MB in size that you need to scan for malware, you could try an alternative to VirusTotal which is Metascan Online: https://www.metascan-online.com/

Metascan online scans a file using 43 different antivirus engines and can scan a file up to 80 MB in size. Hopefully this helps!
