    Hi apf elite,

This sounds like your antivirus is detecting an infected file in your System Restore folder. Turning off System Restore and rebooting your computer will clear it, which means any infected files that were in there will be cleared out and removed also.

Since you have not told us whether you have XP or WinMe, I'll give you both links to the System Restore Instructions:

    System Restore Instructions for XP.

    System Restore Instructions for WinME.

Follow up with an on-line scan: Free Services.

Then follow ALL the instructions, and each step in this link, carefully:
HOW TO? Read here about how to post your log!!. You will have to become a registered member first though, before you can post your Hijackthis log over in the adware, spyware & hijack cleaning forum.

    Regards,

    snap
