Virus Updates,Firewall & spyware detection

Hi everyone.
First of all,I apologise if these are stupid questions.

I have just uninstalled Zone Alarm IS 2009 because it was slowing my PC down.I have now installed the 30 day trial for ESET Smart Security.After installing I tried to update the definitions & i was told that the virus definitions were up to date.How can this be? All security suites require u to download updates after installion.Does the trial version actually update definitions?

Also, should i use the Zone Alarm firewall instead of the ESEST firewall ?

Does this security suit find spyware or only viruses?

Sometimes it doesn't update at the first time, so click the update button until it updates. You should try the Eset firewall and make a choice for urself. And yes, it detects spyware too.
