MedStar is a HUGE operation in the DC area with 100s of thousands of patients. It operates 10 hospitals and more than 250 outpatient centers, including The Washington Hospital Center and the Georgetown Hospital. In addition, many physicians groups practices operate under its umbrella and rely on its computer systems for all purposes, as well as a network of emergency helicopters that transport critically injured victims from car crashes, fires, etc to The Washington Hospital Center.
