I am deferring purchase of a license until Vipre is tested by AV-Comparatives or some other test organization of equal professional stature.

I can't help but wonder WHY Vipre has not yet submitted itself to independent professional testing. Or have I missed something?

I really really want to buy Vipre but I do not wish to buy an untested Antivirus. I hope it gets tested before the 31 May 2011 deadline date is reached for expiration of this offer.

Vipre is being tested by VirusBulletin.
They are included in the latest RAP test as (Sunbelt)

If you think that VB is professional or not is up to you :)

Useful data. As to protection, Vipre scored 3 out of a possible 6. Seems 2nd tier to me, wot?

You are very skeptical I must say.
I guess you didn't check the RAP test in wich it performed great.

Vipre scored 5.0 in the ''repair'' section. It seems great for me :thumb:

Yes indeed it is very good. It can't score 6.0 in every aspect.

I feel the same, particularly about not having been tested by AV Comparatives which is my first reference testing organization. On the other hand as it has been pointed out in other posts, Vipre has gone through some tests with reasonable results (see also MRG Flash tests 2011, almost as good as MBAM).

The reason I bought 2 licenses was mainly due to its light foot print and it really doesn't affect the speed of my two slow notebooks. I can't recall experiencing any antivirus so light as Vipre. I only bought 1 year licenses as if they fail to keep reasonable standards in the near future, it'll be easy to change.

Repair is not needed when you regularly image your system drive. IMO, a restored clean image is light years better than a clean-up.

If an AV does an effective job of protection, then repair proficiency is secondary. Of course an AV with 2nd tier protection really does need to the ability to repair the damage it failed to prevent.

Agreed. I would never trust an AV to clean an infected PC completely. There are usually some elemens left. That's why you should rely on a imaged backup and focus on detection and prevention of malware rather than cleaning.

Hi guys, I was very happy to see this discount, but just few days after installing of Vipre Premium trial version, problems with network connection started to appear. I have posted short description on Vipre forum, also there are other users with the same problem :'(

Could you describe the problems, or link the forum post so we can check it out?

Got a three year license..interesting though : We have received your order and it is undergoing normal, manual processing, which will be completed within the next two hours. In exceptional cases, the process may last longer.

Nonetheless, upon completion of the manual processing, you will receive an e-mail with further information about your order. Please do not place another order until you have received a confirmation e-mail from us about this order or you may be billed twice.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Anyone else run into this?

Swex says your skeptical. But as Vipre is cherry picking who tests them I'd say you have good reason to be. Vipre reminds me of a boxer who keeps dodging a specific challenger while claiming to be the best.

This deal is winding down! Only a handful of days left to get it at half price.
(I'm still trying to decide if I want to tack anymore time onto my 2 yr. license)
    :)

If we can get another discount in the next few months it would be appreciated. I'd like to do more testing after the next update :)
