I wrote ESET after looking here on the forum for a long time.

The issue is having EAV V4 installed and trying to run another firewall ( PCtools, Online Armor, Comodo ) on my Vista Home Premium 32 SP2 . The ping is around 500 . Pages and new tabs open in 2-3 seconds which is super slow.

When installed with Avira or G-data or anything else it works fine.

They adviced me to run the Sys-inspector and send it to them .

I did this while running OA, but I could have run Pc tools or Comodo.

The only answer I got was: Deinstall OA , don't run 2 security software on 1 PC o_O :'( :thumbd: .
    No help or anything.

I asked them if they saw any problem on the Sys-inspector but there was nothing.

The only thing is get rid of OA. THAT'S IT. No help or anything.

It all runs fine on my other machine with XP.

Is there anyone else who shares this problem with me. And can help me. the support is refusing to help me.

    Thank you very much.

have you tried NOD32 3.0 and reproduce the same problem ? What about zone alarm, why not try that one and see if you can reproduce this behavior.

If you want to try zone alarm start with version ( zapSetup_71_254_000_en )and if that does the same thing you experience, then go str8 to the latest zone alarm version, we will try to see what causes this.

zapSetup_71_254_000_en should be able to find in google in zone labs previous files and be able to download it and it will run as a trial version, then you can buy it if it works out.

Yeah thought of trying Nod 3.0 but isn't that one less secure?

It's really a matter of personal taste, I wouldn't say your less secure with 3.0, but some may say otherwise.

leave 4.0 on if you wish and try this, I allready found link for you:

    http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/free/1038_zl/zapSetup_71_254_000_en.exe

just uninstall the other firewall and install this, and see if it repeats the behavior....... zone alarm is an underrated firewall, I think it's better and plays better with other programs than the others you mentioned, just try this and post back your results.

It has OS firewall which monitors the OS and has program interaction control so I would say yes.

You'll be fine with windows own firewall and NOD32.

I know I'll be fine, and honestly if using the WF I can better stick with ESS. But it should work to use EAV and a third party firewall.

I see many people use it?

It just makes me so angry they refuse to help me any further.

Ok, I just tried the free version, and it doesn't have application interaction and component control, or the OS firewall, you need the pro version for that, which is the first link I gave you and the file is zapSetup_71_254_000_en

I don't know why all these people are jumping on comodo and the others, don't you know that zone labs pioneered the software firewall, long before the other companies even started to follow ? zone alarm has been around for Eons.

yeah, to get the full benefits of zonee you really need the pro version for the extra stuff like OS firewall and application interaction and component control....... it really locks down your pc hard.I would install the pro version from the link I gave you just to satisfy curiosity and see if it messes up NOD32 like the others do, if you feel like experimenting for 14 days, it's worth it to see !
