Verizon Wireless sells out customers with creepy new tactic

    Wikipedia was looking to start a new phone company that was supposed to be "clean" of all evil. Problem is, lobbies and governments don't allow that to happen, like here in Brazil where we have only 4 crappy phone companies and no other can join the "competition" because of burucrats.

    It is a world wide problem. Some countries are worse than others but telephony and telecommunications are almost always in the hands of monopolistic corporations working hand in hand with the state which heavily regulates them. Whether it's Verizon, Telemex, Telefonica, Vodaphone or any other national or regional carrier, it is pretty much the same set up.

    Considering the technical aspects and somewhat uniquely severe damage to privacy, that fine sure seems like a crime. The bold text below sounds somewhat positive though. If you are a Verizon customer, don't forget to check your account(s) and associated settings.
