I have just gone to the ESET download site and downloaded what I thought would be the latest v3 software for 64bit vista.

After I have installed it it appears to be version 4! Is this because v4 has now been released or have I download some dodgy version?

    Cheers

    LeoPheonix,

Thanks for the heads-up. The V4 releases of EAV and ESS are now available for download.

good luck with download - I am seeing everything running EXTREMELY slowly - the download page never completes rendering in firefox (but does in IE7 - REALLY odd..)

I am trying to download v4.0 antivirus and it says 12 minutes... we'll see...

Are you kidding ESET? Why rush the product because of a stupid convention? I really hope many of the bugs have been fixed. I guess CeBit must be worth it.

    Hi HiTech boy,

Do you know why the digital signature of the final version is dated 6 Feb while that of the RC is 13 Feb? A bit strange...o_O

Doesn't really matter, once the servers are back up again everyone will be at the same version.

I dl'd it w/no problem, updated db manually to 3901, but still shows expiration date of 3/17/09. Dunno...

EDIT: After installation, had to re-insert user/pw in the program, now showing the correct expire date.

Off topic...The manual for EAV is still for v3 on eset.co.uk and it should be for v4
but I m confident that they will solve this matter soon

Sorry to sound like a bit of Newbie, but in peoples opinions am I best to stick with ESS v3 for the time being or do you think I should upgrade? Not really sure about all the problems v4 has had.

Oh this reminds me of the release of ERA 3.0 and how much of a joke that was to install and support when it was first released!

I think I'll wait till they release a proper version on servers that work... Can't even download the software at the minute! Unbelievable!

At the moment of posting this I have no problem downloading anything from ESET servers (eset.com site) and the speed is fine. The only problem now is that the program itself can't update (but that is another story) . ESET.com site and server seems fully accessable now.

You sure? My server is trying to download at a speed of 5.52KB/s at the minute from ESET's download server! It says it's gonna take about 1.5 hours to download EAV 4!

At the risk of piling on I'm trying to download the 3.0 Console at two different sites and it is C-R-A-W-L-I-N-G. A 14 MB file is taking ages! I know one of the sites has a reliable and fast connection - it's my house!
