Western Digital had a recent class action suit filed against them and the award was a software program called (EMC Dantz Retrospect Express version 7.5), this is a backup and restore program.

Has anybody used this software and is there any compatibility problems between this software and Acronis TI 9.0.

    Thank you for any input,

    Ron

    I tried it twice.
The first time I scheduled it to run at 2AM. When I woke up the next morning, I found out it opened another option box that had to be answered before running. Real good layout to have a schedule, then not run because of something else it needed an answer to. Not real user friendly.

The second time I thought I had it beat. I started the backup when I went to bed and it was running. When I woke up I found out it locked up my system after running for about 1 hour.

I've since uninstalled that POS since it can't be trusted.

I used Retrospect 6.5 for several years.

It may be the best file-based backup program, but I suggest switchin to image based backups, as I did earlier this year.

There should be no compatibily problems, but why use it?

Western Digital used to package Dantz (now EMC) Retrospect Express w/ its external Hdd. I used it for several years. Certainly not the most user friendly app. Since switching to ATI, Genie & FD-ISR I haven't looked back.

The Retrospect interface is indeed complex. but, as far as file based backup, it is stil likely the best.

Indeed, it even handles files that cannot be handle by true image (see http://www.standards.com/index.html?CreateFileFailure).
