I am new to all this. I want to make an Image of my XP operating system, applications and application data to an external USB drive. The external drive is a Seagate 250 GB HD mounted in an ADS tech usb drive enclosure. My computer is a Toshiba labtop. Can I use TI to do the imaging and then be able to restore the image to a new internal disk drive if my original HD goes south?
    Thanks,

Been there, done that! I have XP sp2 and an external 250GB USB2 Drive (Western Digital Dual Option). I have done Backups and a few restores from this external drive, and am backing up a SATA Raid 0 array to this external drive. I would say that if TI (windows and rescue CD) sees the external drive the you are OK...at least I was.

This RAID was a pair of 80GB SATA drives and I just did a restore when I bought two 250GB drives. I now have a 1/2 Terabyte Raid 0 array that TI9 restored from the 80gb (160GB array) image on the external USB drive..
