If I'm running Emsisoft Anti-Malware 5 as RealTime, not On Demand, because of the Ikarus Anti-Virus engine, I don't really need to install and run in Real Time another AV app like Avira Free do I?

I'm hoping the Ikarus Anti-Virus engine is enough, maybe even better...

    THANKS

it's fair enough. Emsi's AM has been doin' really well in all the most recent independent tests (in case you rely on testing bodies), but besides that, it's a quite powerful security app that will deliver top-notch protection on it's own...

You are right DosFox, Emsisoft AM is suffient. But be careful when it detects anything. It is prone to FP. Today it did a toll of FP in Bloodshed Dev C++ updates.

I am using it with DefenseWall 3.07. EAM is very good, but is not 100% all the time. A layered approach is the best in my mind with applications that compliment each other and use different techniques.

EAM mixed with OA and sandboxie is a great layered approach. Runs really well together too. Whatever Ikarus misses you still have the BB and OA hips. Thats not even including that it is running in sandboxie.

Ikarus is a top-tier AV. With Ikarus, EMSI AM is at LEAST the equal of Avira premium & is certainly superior to Avira-free.

Well what is 100%, that I'd like to know, LOL...

I'm using it right now in combination with Comodo Firewall and of course I use other apps for on demand, like avira, mb and hitman pro...

    THANKS
