For 64 bit version - works perfectly.

    Download the plug-in (10,0,42,34) from here:- http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10_64bit.html
    Extract libflashplayer.so
    Then:-
    sudo mv libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
    sudo ln -sf /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/firefox-addons/plugins/
    sudo ln -sf /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/xulrunner-addons/plugins

(For the 32 bit version on a 32 bit (U)buntu OS you can use the canonical partner repo. -
just ensure it is ticked in Software Sources)

64 bit flash has been available on Linux for months now. I have been using it for a while. Is this a new version?

Yes, chronomatic, it's a new version - previous one was the 10,0,32 if I remember correctly, also form Adobe labs.
