Yeah, seems like deja vu. Cheers for the heads up. :thumb:

Haven't they done this rapid upgrade thingy before? It is a really good PDF reader though!

They haven't given up on the ASK toolbar trick have they. You have to remember to Uncheck the radio button to avoid it during installation of the update. :p

I've nothing against updates, but Tracker seem to go for quite a while without any, then often there are a couple of quick ones in succession. This can be a bit tiring updating on multiple computers. ;)

This seems to mainly be on 32 bit.

I haven't seen it yet on 64 bit. Maybe it's something to do with the download servers?

Once I definitely unchecked the ask button on a 32 bit computer & it still put the ask tool bar on IE! I had to uninstall it manually.

If Ask Toolbar is a problem, why not just use the .msi installers? They don't contain the toolbar. There is the downside that the older version has to be uninstalled first, though.

Ask.com Toolbar bundled with this release as always :ouch: It's a bummer the great apps have to be in bed with third-party apps such as Ask.com

Not a bummer if you consider the financial support, which results in better development.

Fair point, but Ask.com is bundled in the reader itself anyway. In fact, I have it as the default search engine in the reader itself.

    Good to know.

Well. So, this makes it an ad-supported app. I was tempted to give it a try, considering all the positive reviews here. However, I will stick with SumatraPDF. One more question: is it possible to disable the Ask.com search engine on PDF-XChange Viewer?

I'm OK with freeware bundled with optional, unobtrusive and easily uninstallable adware, like CCleaner standard build, but I don't really like ad-supported software. For instance, the only ad-supported app I have on my system is an absolutely essential (at least to me): Windows Live Messenger - and I applied the A-Patch on it, mainly to remove the ads. :D

No problem - just like in a browser you can select your default search engine. So it's no matter if google or yahoo or ask is preselected. Ask Toolbar you can easy disbale in setup.

btw: My default pdf-reader is also Sumatra (reduce to the max;) ) but because of some nice features PDF-X-Change is nr.2.

You can elect not to install the Ask toolbar as you have shown, but you can't delete the search engine in your illustration, just move it down the list.

I don't think so, but it isn't that much of a problem for me. It has alternatives to Ask.com in the drop down menu, but it is freeware after all so I suppose there is going to be some bundling. I can live with that. Sumatra does look tempting though.

You can. If you f.e. select google - it's always used and selected until YOU change it again. Same as in every browser...so i really don't see a problem here.
And: you can even add or delete search engines completely.

I did that. I highlighted the one I want to remove, clicked remove, then apply and upon checking the one that I removed is still there. It's no big deal, but it doesn't work for me.:)
