    Acronis please RESPOND!!

The Universal Restore does not do the 2nd Driver directory search! I got a driver database filled with all the drivers from www.driverpacks.net and they are not USED for hardware that windows doesn't have! Please fix this:

    Examples:
    Sound Blaster Live
    Wireless Adapters
    etc etc

all found in de www.driverpacks.net driver libraries but Universal Restore does not use them!
Please fix this otherwise the product is useless! Then we could better go with Bineary Research Universal Imaging Utility!

i would recommend you to read the product description again.
Acronis Universal Restore seems to be developed only to install system-critical drivers, for HAL and mass-storage controllers. After that you should be able to get into Windows Safe-Mode to uninstall the old chipset-driver etc.

Nowhere on the description Acronis claims that the Universal Restore does anything else than replacing the HAL and mass-storage drivers.

That's just what i got together from the product page.

OK so where is the driver search thing than usefull for? He searches a network share including all subdirectories for usefull >inf file. A little strange to do this for just that 1 mass storage driver

    aint it?

could probably be useful if you don't exactly know which controller you have in that machine (or in which directory the right inf-file is). It would sure be nice, if you just had to use Universal Restore and all drivers for the new machine would be detected. But what the user-guide says, it just replaces HAL and the mass-storage driver.

Maybe a case for the wishlist?

    Hello jeremyotten,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Please note that b_k is correct. Acronis Universal Restore is designed to install Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) and hard disk controller drivers only in order to restore the image to the different hardware.

You can find more information on how to use Acronis Universal Restore in the respective Acronis True Image User's Guide.

If you want us to change the behaviour of Acronis True Image in any way or add some new features to this product, please feel free to post any of your suggestions in Acronis True Image WISH-LIST thread.

    Thank you.
