A logical choice on OpenSuse's part. It's either that or use Gnome 3 . Of the two, I like Unity better. Some are talking of switching to XFCE when classical Gnome is no longer available. This idea might be acceptable but a lot of work would need to be done before I would be happy with it. I never was an XFCE fan.
Between Gnome 3 and Unity, it's Unity.
OpenSUSE is porting Unity 2D. Not a big surprise as its the version that can run on all computers that don't have accelerated cards - the reason for this is the Compiz compositing engine that works even on weak cards.
I started a thread at openSUSE forums regarding Unity, Gnome-shell and a custom gnome 3 fallback interface.
Please if you have some opnion about, please share. I'm thinking in hear some feedback and have some support to send to openfate.
On OpenSUSE? That I didn't expect.
As long as there is a choice available (between Unity and other manager), it's fine. If not, it's a very bad idea.
