Uninstalling Windows XP

    Microsoft has directions for removing Windows XP...does this mean that the hard drive gets wiped clean, as if writing zero's to the drive?

    No - it won't zero anything. You'll have to use specific software for doing so.

    If you want to 'Zero' your hardrive so that no information can be recovered, you may want to look into programs such as 'Eraser'.

    If you want to be sure that your harddrive is erased, then a program like Killdisk is a possibillity, run it either from a floppy or cd and there is a free version. :)
