    Hi,

I'm using True Image v.8 on Win XP...

    My question:

If/when I uninstall the app, what happens to the image
I created on my hard drive in the "secure zone" ??

    Is the image deleted?
Is the "secure zone" partition deleted?
Is the "Startup Recovery Manager" (F11) removed?

See, I only really want to make an Image of my freshly
installed OS; Must I keep the app installed forever??

    Thanks,
    Steve

I don't use the secure zone, so I am not sure what would happen. However, I do know that you do not have to have True Image installed on your system, in order to create and restore images to another hard drive. All you need is the True Image boot CD.

Just click Tools->"Manage Acronis Secure Zone" then click "NEXT" in the dialog popping up and then select "Remove Acronis Secure Zone".

This will delete the whole partition, consequently also your image.

@Death: Yes, but i want to KEEP the secure zone,
with my image intact, and safely uninstall the app...
    Can it be done?
    Steve.

Hmm, I'd back it up (the SZ) to make sure I have a copy before I uninstall.

You could use Disk Director to put it (the back-up) on a different partition and make that partition hidden, kind of like emulating the secure zone yourself.

    Hi Death

I don't use the Secure Zone myself but I've always assumed that the SZ could only be accessed from within TI. Are you saying that Acronis Disk Director can also access this hidden partition? If that's the case then I stand corrected.

    Regards

Ok, so I went ahead to discover the answers to my own questions
and will share the results with you here...

The Secure Zone AND the image it contains DO
survive an uninstall of the main application.

Also, the F11 Startup Recovery Manager
    functionality is also maintained.
(Although it simply freezes at the "Loading, Please Wait screen,
presumebly due to my Highpoint ATA66 PCI Controller...)

So, in my case, the image is able to be restored from the Secure
Zone after uninstalling the True Image app using a Bootable
Rescue Media CD (But only burned using Safe Version, else it freezes...)

    Regards,
    Steve1234.
