Uninstall Acronis Backup & Recovery: NIC missing from "Manage Network connections”; VSS fails

I reported the error on Fri 24/07/2009 09:58

- I got a case number: no other reaction!
- a Sales? person emailed me: this email address is now unreachable!


Uninstalled "Acronis Backup & Recovery Advanced Server SBS Edition" (SBS 2008 SP1):
(1) All but one vss writers missing (only “MS Software Shadow Copy provider 1.0” vssadmin list providers) (SBS Backup fails!)
(2) Network configuration destroyed: both NIC (WAN=public Internet; LAN=intranet) are missing from “Manage Network connections”, cards are running fine under “Device Manager”. NIC are not visible; can’t configure “Routing and Remote Access”: no Interfaces (so no routing, Client can’t access Internet)

Tried:
-Reinstall NICS.
-Used netsh to get some network functionality back.
-AcronisCleanup
-HKey_Local_Machine\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\BackupRestore DWORD UseMicrosoftProvider=1

Server is now unusable!

Thank you for using Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server SBS Edition

Load Services.msc, and make sure following services are running:

a) Remote Procedure Call (RPC). Use by client for MS networks.
b) Server
c) Workstation. Both used for MS networks and File/print sharing
d) TCP/IP Netbios helper.
e) Computer Browser. Allow to see other computers on network.
f) Network connections
g) DHCP Client

You can also reset TCP/IP by this command:

netsh winsock reset.

Let us know the results.

Use the following KB article to completely remove Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server SBS Edition. It will solve the issue, otherwise let us know the results.

I was contacted by support eventually.
Problem was solved by 'workaround'.
This workaround is NOT found in the KB articles you supplied.
