ESET Guys, what did you push out with the Update to 2785 ? That Update causes more Problems than before.
Some time the Browser freeze, in another case there's no possibility to scan manual, because of the Scan hangs from beginning. And, by trying to stop it nothing happend. The only message that come " waiting to complete Scan ". Great, that's what i'm waiting since 3 hours. Since you've change the Archive Support Module.

    Holy **** !

I know, i could use the older 2.70.39, but, sorry, since they push out V. 3 there so much different Problems I've never ever seen before in an ESET Software. And the newest problem ist very strange, too. No manual Scans possible, gives me no well feeling of security.

Please try update 2786 and report back. I am currently using a different AV so I can't retry. Thank you.

I'm using 2786. You see, the Update itself works. But the problem still exists.
If i start an manual Scan, or better i should say, trying to start a manual Scan, nothing happens. It hangs, and hangs and yes, it hangs. Trying to stop it does not work. There's only the message " waiting... " see my post above.

I think, i really should change my Software and switch to another Company. The latest things customers getting from ESET are......, i cant finding the right words.

Does it also happen with email files disabled?

It hangs and hangs and hangs. No scanning possible, stopping of scanning not possible, too.

And again, my problem exists since 2785 ( Modul changed )

Ok , stay with v2 until ESET release a new build which will probably be a better one for you . As I wrote in the link above , there will be really no problem for your protection if you do this change

I dont use Outlook only web based email. Outlook Express is prone to viruses and always has been. Its a major target for hackers and spammers and others. I use Yahoo email which comes with my AT@T DSL account. I never ever get any spam and all files are scanned with Norton.

Steel talk about manual scan hang and browser freezing, not email scan. Nothing like that here with update 2785 or 2786

Dont use OE either. I agree with Dieselman about it. I use Mozilla Thunderbird.

I just saw this thread. I've posted in another that I'm having this same exact problem as of this morning's updates. Freezing during on demand scan, extreme slowdown of my system. Running XP Pro SP2 w/2GB RAM, E6600, NOD32 signature database 2786, update module 1019, scanner module 1102.

The temporary fix to this problem is to disable email checking under 'on demand computer scan'.

He's talking about v3.0 right? So why on earth keep on nagging about v2.70?

Calm down, mate? It's quite right to explode and it amazes me, that there are no more ready to blow apart!

    When is the limit reached?

If I buy an antivirus program with a mail scanning module in it, I should be able to use it......even with Outlook Express........that's one of my reasons for buying a certain product.

Just about every virus scanner out there even free ones have email scan. Doesn't mean you have to use it.
