unable to restore xubuntu 10.10 session

    how ever i am able to get into gui root mode with startx

    here is my xsession error file

    so far what i did is

    root@sonal-System-Product-Name:/home# chmod 644 sonal/.ICEauthority

    and delete .xsession-errors and .xsession-errors old form home folder

    What are .ICE authority permissions?
    Did you work/edit a system file in kate/kwrite or such?

    i am facing that

    i did what it given i forums i install themes in xubuntu and just changing the theme it crash and stuck in loop error t delete all themes .theme from user folder also did

    give permissions to .ICE authority permissions?

    also

    chmod 644 .ICEauthority

    chown $sonal .ICEauthority"

    some how i am able to get to login screen but then again when ever i start xfce session or xubuntu session i loop back to login screen with user name and password

    i guss easy way is i formate because i have no more time yesterday i was repairing at 3 am

    No need to format. Make .ICE ownership to yourself.
    sudo chown mackguy .ICEauthority. That should do it.
    Unless you destroyed something else too.

    i did some how i get the owner ship but strange i got xubuntu 10.10 login screen but unable to login to it same bug i feel on live cd as well

    on live cd i made a root password but when you try to login with it Gui mode i wont it give loop back login session again ......error

    but i was able to login to ubuntu safemode as ram is very less on this system

    448 (repaired ram) :D

    thanks Mrkvonic for your support and .......sorry i have short of time to do more fancy stuff she is already crying baby :D

    i format and install

    and put it on update and install all needed software by the time i come home all done :D

    less painful what i gone through last night till 3 am :p

    by the way which xfce desktop distro is your opinion

    best for newbie and stable :p

    last one i used is mint 8 xfce it was pretty rock solid on this system


    going to try fedora xfce 14

    debian stable + xfce is a match made in heaven. Fast and stable. Give it a go mack, you won't be disappointed.
