    hi,

    i want to resize my windows-xp prof (primary, active, first partition on drive, ntfs)partiton a bit to make room for something else on the disk.

    after specifying things in disc director (#524) and rebooting resizing halts with the following error:

    "Unable to resize partition with bad blocks"

    i did ran chkdsk and that program found no errors. windows xp prof runs happily.

    what can be done about this?

    thanks.

    after experiencing the same error, when using the partitioner of the linux install i found a workaround for this weird problem:

    - i made an image of the windows xp prof boot partition (partition 1);
    - deleted this partition with disc director suite;
    - then i made a new smaller partition with dds;
    - created the other new partition;
    - restored the image to the now a little smaller partition.

    no errors this time. everything went smooth. no one complaining about bad sectors anymore. everybody happy.

    nevertheless i hope a cure can be found for this weird behaviour of dds.
