Ubuntu 10 LL and soundcard driver

    Sorry, as a total beginner I installed Ubuntu earlier today and got it working :D

    I notice however that I don't have any sound - most of the other stuff so far worked out of the box but how would I handle this one? I assume it's a driver missing:(

    The current soundcard integrated into the motherboard is P5V800-Mx Series - hope that helps.

    Open terminal and type alsamixer. Make sure nothing is muted (MM). See sshot.
    Run in terminal aplay -l See if the card is recognized.

    please right click and select sound preference

    check your sound preference form there also your hardware device

    thanks guys,

    found it via the sound preferences and indeed had to untick one of the mute boxes :oops:

    by the way on which system you install ubuntu on new one or old one

    can you give specifications
