Ubuntu 10.04 - 10 sec. boot time. No usplash.

    the only thing that is slowing us down now is the proprietary bios's

    no opensourse one supports my motherboard yet.

    Very impressive and all that. But are boot times really that important to people? As long as it's not a stupidly long boot up time then what's the problem? I'd rather my system was stable and quick once it's up rather than have lightning fast boot.

    Might be nice to have for netbooks, but I dunno.

    But you gotta admit, it'd be cool to show off your laptop in public: press the power button and the OS comes in in 10 seconds. :D

    I suppose. I don't think i've used an OS yet that takes any more than 30 secs though.

    I can think of other things with a higher priority.... but I guess if they wanna make it 10 seconds I won't argue... :)

    I too rather take reliability and security over boot time, but if the boot time is just 10 seconds and the rest in untouched I don't mind.
