True Image 9.0 recovery suddenly hangs

Hallo Software-Spezialisten,

seit kurzem kann ich kein Recovery von meiner externen Festplatte mehr durchführen. Egal, ob ich meine Platte C von der Secure Zone oder von der externen Platte recovern will, beim Hochfahren des PCs über F11 startet TI, dann kommt der Acronis Schriftzug, in der nächsten Zeile steht "loading, please wait ...", in der darauf folgenden Zeile blinkt der Cursor ein fünf Mal - dann bleibt er stehen. Es tut sich nichts mehr. Nach bis zu 40 Minuten starte ich den PC erneut.

Das Problem bleibt, auch wenn ich von der Recovery-CD boote, sofern ich den vollständigen Modus wähle. Auch hier hängt sich das System beim "loading" auf. Nur mit einem Start von der Recovery-CD im abgesicherten Modus läßt sich wenigstens das neueste Image von der Secure Zone verwenden. Doch meine gesamten älteren Backups auf der externen Festplatte sind jetzt plötzlich nicht mehr aufrufbar.

Das System: Windows XP SP3, mehrere Partitionen, keine neue Software seit 1 Jahr außer Windows Updates. TI 9.0 (build 2.289) entfernt und neu installiert, keine Änderung. Kein Virus feststellbar. Vor etwa einem Jahr funktionierte das Ganze noch problemlos.

Vielleicht hat jemand einen Tipp, wie ich mein TI 9 wieder vollständig zum Laufen bringen könnte. Ich hatte auf früheren PCs mal Norton Ghost verwendet, aber nach einigen Jahren ähnliche Probleme bekommen, und bin deswegen auf TrueImage umgestiegen.

That's a really old build of TI 9. You might try updating to the latest build and see if that helps.

USB drives are not available when you boot into the Safe Mode version of TI unless the BIOS supports them directly. Most older computers don't provided BIOS support for USB drives.

For the TI Full Mode version from the CD, have you tried the quiet acpi=off noapic option detailed in Section II of the PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU POST thread?

Many thanks for that quick reply. I'm impressed that you can read German!

I've tested the "quiet acpi=off noapic option" with no result. But if I try to view the sysinfo via Linux, I can see that the whole process suddenly stops - so no "#" visible on the screen. Last entry before loading stops is:
$ /bin/insmod ide-detect
Using /lib/modules/ide-detect.o

Have fixed mbr, also did fdisk /mbr, but no change for the overall result. True Image only starts in the safe mode from the CD.

You don't say if your test was with the latest build of TI 9 or the old build you've been using. If you haven't tried the latest build, that's what I would recommend testing first. It may have better support for the computer's hardware.

Is it possible to connect the USB drive internally (take it out of the USB enclosure and install it in the computer)? If so, the Safe Mode version would probably work.
