Today one of my friends told me he encountered a problem installing Windows XP on a ACER C-310 laptop.

He set in BIOS CD-ROM as its first boot-device and then after restart the laptop doesn't recognize the bootable Windows XP CD-ROM. :( This CD-ROM works very well on his other PC, but not here.

Normally he should have seen the "Press any key to boot from CD..." message but nothing appears. The CD-ROM device is working properly, but I don't know what to tell him... :'(

Do you have any suggestions ?

Has he tried another Windows XP CD?

    Cheers :D

Yup, use the factory CD for installation.

Are those factory CDs or warez stuffs? You may have a bad/poor ROM drive.

Well, the CD worked on his primary laptop and perhaps it's the ROM drive causing the problem. ;)

OK, so you have warezware. The home-made CD probably has poor reflectivity. A good ROM drive will not have any problem reading the data.
