i have a problem with a clean re install of true image:

    1. i had it installed on C: then i uninstalled it but just via control panel/ software i did not follow this uninstall guide that is floating around here so there was some bits left on the system i guess

    2. i tried installing it again but while installing i got a blue screen.

    3. i deleted all data caused by the corrupted installation manually cause there was no uninstall option, i also deleted some registry entries i guess.

    4. now i installed it again (this time on D:) and completed the installation, but now this installation is also somewhat corrupted. on startup it gives you a error message about some elements of the software cannot be executed and when i try to open an image it says the image cannot be opened due to some kind of trouble with the image.

    5. now i wanted to go with this uninstall guide that i found here but the first thing i did was using this WINDOWS INSTALL CLEAN UP TOOL and i checked acronis and deleted it. now i can't even uninstall it cause it is not shown in the control panel / software list.
is there any way to uninstall it ? no uninstaller? i can't (and shouldn't) try to delete all files manually - if i try it just tells : "timounter" cannot be deleted - even in safe mode. now i don't know what else i can do to uninstall this software.

timounter possibly can't be deleted as it is registered as loaded into memory.

If the cleanup utility doesn't work, you could try the following.

Open up Services and see if Scheduler2 still exists as an entry, if so, stop the service and disable it. Wait a few seconds for Windows to release the program, then open up Task Manager and you may see two TrueImage entries, one will be timounter and the other trueimage monitor - you should now be able to kill these two programs. Once they have been released, you could then try any of the methods that have failed so far.

Seems to me that it's impossible to remove TI from your computer, despite if you have a great skills in computer. Just to clarify... TI made some huge modifications in MBR and other very important files in windows, such of course register and I have serious doubt if does anyone can remove that.
May be I was wrong.....may be.

IMHO only if you created a SecureZone(SZ).
    Did you?

Then you should delete the SZ with Ti before you unistall it.

Here in my computer I note that even without Secure Zone, TI made changes in MBR.

    weird...

Why should Ti do that? There is no reason.
I'll check it next and let you know...

    hi
yes i can say too that TI is way too involved in windows settings etc

so i had to re install windows :(

i used the cleanup utility and i restarted (blue screen again btw). the folder was not deleted, but i was able to delete it by myself at least and there was still tons of entries still in the registry. i deleted all of them but some that had to do with MBR etc structures i did not touch cause i wanted to run chkdsk anyway afterwards. some entries that had to do with "LEGACY" section COULD NOT be deleted.

so i thought hm "not so great" i managed to delete some parts of the program but there was still entries left obviously.
so i booted from win xp CD and tried chkdsk c: /R
so that found "at least 1 fault" and repaired it. from then on i was unable to boot. i get a BLUE SCREEN every time even with the option in the boot menu: BOOT FROM LAST SETTING THAT WORKED that used to work before

thats very frustrating that once you try to un install or re install TI you get so much trouble. i don't get it

    Hello all,

Thank you for using Acronis True Image

To avoid the same issue in the future I can suggest you to contact Acronis Customer Service Department first. We will provide you with the instructions on how to uninstall the program correctly. Manual uninstalling should be performed in an appointed order, the exact sequence should not be changed.

    Thank you.

After contacting acronis support several times in vain, I´m just trying to get an answer right here, following Oleg Lee´s advice . So lets see.
    My Problem:
I´m currently working with True Image Home 2009 Build 9608. After downloading the new Build 9615 I tried to install it - according to the installation guide of TI 2009 - without uninstalling Build 9608 before. Setup told me it could not start installation because of a previous version that´s already installed. OK, I thought, small bug in the TI 2009 guide.
So I tried to uninstall the Build 9608 in the windows software-section. Here I got the message that the configuration file would be corrupted, uninstall would not be possible and adviced me to contact the support (I did so, see above)
My question: How can I uninstall Build 9608 to install Build 9615? Is there a cleanup-utility as for TI 10 and 11? Or is there alternatively a guide for uninstalling it manually?
    Hope someone can help me!

I´ve already seen the threat you linked. But as you can read, it´s for uninstalling "Acronis True Image 10.0 Home, Acronis True Image 11 Home and Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0 only".
So I´m not quite sure it can be used to uninstall TI 2009! After starting the cleanup-utility you can only choose to uninstall the above mentioned applications but not TI 2009.
Do you have any experience in using it for TI 2009?

I don't think the current Cleanup Utility program correctly uninstalls TI 2009. I assume Acronis will update it when they get around to it.

I mean this part of the linked thread:

"selkov, you can try to use Windows Cleanup utility in your case. You can learn more about it here"

Under "here" you can find hints to "Windows Installer CleanUp Utility".
This utility you can use additional if normal Win-Uninstall failed.

This frankly is pathetic and not worthy of anyone claiming to be a Support person. If there is a correct method that Acronis has properly tested and knows will work, why did you not take the opportunity to spell it out here in the forum. I doubt there are many people who have the time or patience to wait for weeks for a reply from Acronis Customer Service Department given its current track record.

I agree whole heartedly; if special uninstall instructions are needed and known only to Acronis and released only on request, there's a serious documentation issue.o_O

Normaly Ti2009 can uninstall like other software too.

Only if there problems you can use "Windows Installer CleanUp Utility".
And, indeed, this is not applicable for Windows users but for 'little' specialists.

    UPDATE:
I finally got an answer from acronis support department, telling me to use windows cleanup utility, delete Acronis True Image Backup Archive Explorer in the device manager, reboot the computer an install the new version 9646 of TI2009. The result: TI 2009 is giving me an error message instead of starting (see attachment). Great support.
    It sucks!!!
