Hi, can anyone advise me of best practice when nod detects a trojan and associated name with the infected file. At present I am searching the web for an exact name match and following regedit instructions or use spysweeper, which sometimes works. NOD seems to name the trojan differently from most other AV products and it takes me a while to locate it and remove it. Any ideas would be welcome Regards Duncan
You could enter the name here. Sometimes you will get a match. Or you could quarantine and send a sample to Eset. http://www.virusbtn.com/resources/vgrep/index.xml Naming of viruses and trojans is not state of the art as you know and causes us users many problems.
If you submit the file to http://virusscan.jotti.dhs.org/ or http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html you will get the name other vendors use to help you research the malware. I find the Trend Micro Virus Encyclopaedia very useful http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/
