    Hey anyone and everyone I need help. I've had this file on my computer for probably two weeks and I get the following message:
    VIRUS
    Trojan Horse Downloader.Keenval.C
    is found in file
    C:\SystemVolume
    Information\_restore{EC6FF40F-40A4-4F85-9293-A528A6BDB84D}RP353\
    A0052037.exe
    To remove the virus please run AVG for Windows

    I clicked ok and used AVG to scan my computer... The scan completed to find NO viruses. I ran spybot S&D and then download the hijackthis file... here is what it said... please help me decide what to do or delete or keep. THank you!

    Hi MrGold :)

    Welcome to Wilders.

    First thing, i moved your thread over to the hijack cleaning forum for better attention. ;)

    It looks like that Trojan is in your System Restore.

    Just disable System restore, reboot, renable it, then create a new restore point.

    Here's some instructions if you're not sure how,

    http://www.pchell.com/virus/systemrestore.shtml

    After u are done run another scan and see if the trojan is gone.

    Post a new log also so the experts can have a look to see if there is any other Malware on your system.

    Unfortunatly.... the virus isn't gone. It's still undetected. So if you have any other ideas please let me know. Also, i'm confused, what do you want me to post a thread about... the log of the hijackthis? Where do i post that? Sorry i'm not very knowledgeable on any of this. Thanks!

    Hi there, i'm looking at this, and normally what Snowbound said about disable system restore, reboot, enable system restore and make manually a new restore point would be good to wipe all older restore points including the infection.
    So if you scan again is it in the same place or somewhere else?
    In that case there should be an infection somewhere else on your system too.
    Did you only use AVG or also online scanners and others too?
    If so, make sure during any scan with another scanner tio disable the installed scanner and most of all it's resident protection to give the other scanner full access to all your files.
    You can scan in the meantime or waiting for expert advice for the hijackthis log, whatever you prefer.

    Re: A safe/unsafe log?

    Hi MrGold,

    Jooske hit the nail on the head for the trojan, but there is some more that I would advise to get rid off.
    Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    O16 - DPF: {1D6711C8-7154-40BB-8380-3DEA45B69CBF} (Web P2P Installer) -

    Reboot into safe mode and delete:
    C:\Program Files\RSNet <= entire folder
    c:\program files\altnet\points manager <= entire folder
    C:\Program Files\MyWay <= entire folder

    You should urgenttly update Windows and IE

    When you reboot and you turn System restore back on, a new Restore Point will be created automatically.
