troj revop A....I'm not talented

    Hello all, I tried to get rid of Troj_Revop.A, and the first time I thought I succeded, but it's back and it slows my connection, when I'm able to connect at all. I run the ad-ware thing and did the Hijack thing also, but now what? :oops:

    Hi NicoleRacing,

    Welcome to Wilders.

    Before you start, please unzip or move HijackThis to a separate folder of its own. The program will make backups to the folder it's in. These easily get lost in a temporary folder or a folder with other programs.

    Check the following items in HijackThis.
    Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {000020DD-C72E-4113-AF77-DD56626C6C42} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: MyWebSearch Search Assistant BHO - {00A6FAF1-072E-44cf-8957-5838F569A31D} - C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\SrchAstt\1.bin\MWSSRCAS.DLL

    O2 - BHO: mwsBar BHO - {07B18EA1-A523-4961-B6BB-170DE4475CCA} - C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\bar\1.bin\MWSBAR.DLL (file missing)

    Then reboot into safe mode and delete:

    C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\ <-- entire folder

    Reboot.

    To clean out your System Restore, do the following:

    Turn OFF System Restore.
    1. On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
    2. Click Properties.
    3. Click the System Restore tab.
    4. Check the box beside "Turn off System Restore".
    5. Click Apply, and then click OK.
    6. Restart the computer. (You must restart your computer to clear the old Restore Points)

    To Turn System Restore back ON.
    1. Follow the above Steps 1 to 3
    2. UNcheck the box beside "Turn off System Restore".
    3. Click Apply, and then click OK.
    4. Restart your computer.
    5. Then CREATE a new restore point.

    Reboot and then post a fresh HijackThis log.

    Hello Pieter, everything looks good, but once in a while, some advertisements are popping up. They are no ordinary ads since they are in a grey box, with the mention "message center" at the top. This is annoying! How do I do to get rid of these pop-ups?

    Sounds like it could be Windows Messenger Service.

    Thanks Snowbound, it was exactly the kind of pop-ups I was having.

    Now, another thing. After following the instructions above, I did a scan with Trend Micro House Call, and I still got 3 files infected with troj_revop.A. Is there a way to clean this crap once for all?

    Can you give us the full path and filename where the infected files are found?
    Since you are running XP I wouldn't be surprised if they are in your Restore Points.

    Weird...I did another scan this morning and House Call didn't find the trojan.
