Trialist - Please help if you can :¬)

I am trying to replace norton internet security because its way to secrative about what its doing so i am trying this out.

But... when performing a scan there are many many things ESET refuses to process and barfs on

Multi part rar files of the format .part1 .part2 .part3 dont work - archive damaged!
various .exe files saying "files.info - file is not an archive"
my collection of .ipa apps from itunes gives it grief too - loads say damaged archive
.ipa files are taking ages and ages to scan as well - should i and can i dissable scans of .ipa files?

is this normal because i dont feel protected :¬(

 

Are you using the latest version (use it if not)? Exclude those rar files and your ipp aps from scanning

Always ensure your previously installed anti-virus product is fully removed before proceeding, best guess, this your situation here.
With NIS (Norton) some folders and files may have to be removed manually. You would have to consult with Symantec (Norton) or the reseller from whom you purchased it for detailed asistance.

The uninstaller is listed in the article cited above.

 

THanks i did that i used norton mass uninstaller from their web site

 

You must use the uninstaller specific to your Symantec | Norton product, if this is not accomplished you will continue to have issues.
Try the uninstaller
Note: This is an executable file, do not run it from your Browser Window ! Save it to your Desktop or where you would normally save downloaded files once you have closed all other running applications.

This is a very common error.

You're most welcome - please understand you cannot run two AV's in tandem, meaning at the same time.

This is clearly cited on the Download page

 

I feel that nod is just being more honest than other scanners.
some scanners may not be able to scan those files but doesnt say.
