Another thing....Is the trial update slower than the full version?? Because my bases still at 11107 and the eset HP shows 11108....

Check your scheduled tasks. The automatic update is enabled?

Yes it can be, this has been discussed in the past, where paid clients are given preference.

    Cheers :D

    Hi!

Even my trial version has not updated to the 25th May base till now. Even tried manual updating! It says my NOD32 is currently up to date!

    Thanks for the quick reply!

But i still dont agree with Eset's policy of not giving timely updates to trial users!

Anyway, NOD32 is gr8! Best AV i've tried so far!

    kalpik,

what is "timely"? A day or three for the trial to be at the same version as the full version isn't a serious time delay - all companies, not even software companies - but all companies have to prioritize their resources - and if unpaid customers get equal billing as your paid customers, you're going to go broke.

Fundamental economics dictates that those customers putting money into the company bank account must get priority. At least, that's how every company I've ever owned or worked for had to operate. Yes, customer acquisition has to be huge - by how good is acquiring customers if you haemorrage them after initial acquisition.

I forget the exact figures, but it generally costs 4 or more times the cost to gain a customer from retaining a customer - that's MASSIVE in any business... it all has to be considered... and trial users are DEFINITELY not "neglected"... again, my opinion.

Also - when/if you become a paid user, will your opinion be the same, that trial users should get equal resources to you - a paid user?

    regards

    Greg

    I agree too.
And remember this, trial version updates are not the sames than commercial version. Each update you got is a full update in trial version, all the database as I remember, so it is an extra work to build this update for Eset staff ...

Well im getting incremental updates! Dunno, but my updates are around 100 kb. As for being delayed for 2-3 days to get the updates, i still dont agree with u ppl (again my opinion! no fights on this please!!). See u talking about how a company can treat trial and paid customers equally right? Why dont u take into account companies like Avast and AVG? They are providing FREE antivirus software! And the updates they provide, come at the same time to both free and paid customers! How can they make it possible? Dont they have to spend for research and development of their respective products?

Nod32 gives a trial product. It works for 30 days. I respect that. But then not giving timely updates is a lot of compromise for the trial user cuz here we are talking about protection and security!

See, ill give u an example. Suppose there is an outbreak. I get infected because i didnt get timely updates. Do u think then that ill recommend NOD to anybody? See, being me, i know what makes Nod stand apart from the rest. But consider a normal user. Wont he give bad reviews about Nod??

Its just a matter of opinion over here. I think this way. Maybe im wrong. But do give it a thought!! ;)

And look at your settings, because I have a pc here running with a trial version, and it was updated to v1.1108 more than 7 hours before you post your thread ........ I checked this 3 times not to say any wrong information ...
It saw even updated before my main computer :D (20 minutes, but it is due to the hourly update schedule task)
    They both are online 24/24

    Regards

Probably due to the load balance between the updates servers.
Is your update is set with <choose automatically> for the server ?

Im not on dialup. And im not getting any errors in the event log. See the thing is, it got connected to the update server, but the server did not have the latest definitions (maybe) that is why it said that Nod is up to date!

I really appreciate u ppl helping but its not a big deal anyway! Ill just wait for tomorrow's update and see if it gets update in time! Will let u guys know!

    Take care!
