    I think such systems can be useful but we have to remember that they will only work correctly when everything is doing what it should, everything is refraining from doing something it shouldn't, and everything has no vulnerabilities that could be used to make it do something it shouldn't.

    To someone inside the system with credentials that allow them to personally inspect things and determine if everything is OK, such a system has considerable merit. To others, including everyone outside the system, it still boils down to a "trust us" situation.
