    What are the best tools available to get more in information about the people hacking you, preferably tools which are not firewall independant.

    I guess port explorer is the best I have...

    err... McAfee desktop firewall has a built in something for this, right?

    I have used it, was pretty good but I heard some described it as a polysterene door and changed to something better.

    There's the "Pro" method...
    look at logs
    traceroute the hacker.

    There are several free online services/utilities available.
    Sam Spade Tools, Network Tools, Network Utilities are just a few.
