Trueimage estimates that image is about to be around 3,5 GB, and it comes to be 6,5 GB

I want to backup image with trueimage server 8 build 768

Drive is partition of 160Gb driver,
and it 13gb big, and it has 7,5 gigs free

  3. That estimate is just nonsense.

Every filetype has it's own average compression ratio.
For example text files compress very well. mpg and mp3 don't compress at all.
So compression depends a lot on what type of files you backup.
TI8 just estimates the compression based on the average PC. Not by looking at what's actually on your PC.

I would suggest you wrie down teh compression factor that you get on your system. After a few backups you can make a reasoneble estimate yourself.

I would advise also to make backups with diffrent compression settings.
High compression settings take a lot of CPU time but not always compress better.
A disk full of MP3 will compress equally well on 'none' as 'maximum'
    Close to 0%.....

So my suggestion, spend some time playing with the options and you get a good feeling whats the best setting for your data.
