Hi, I just install Tinywall, at first it did not block outgoing connection. How should I configure the windows 7 firewall so Tinywall work correctly ? Thank.
There is forum rules that deny asking questions about a firewall problems? I thought the poster's question was a bit vaque though in details. Anyways alexandrud is another Window's firewall addon maker and as such a "competitor".
I have ask in the main topic, but nobody help me. And for the binisoft softwate, no thank you I dont want to install .net 4.0. Tinywall could be an alternative to my current firewall ( Privatefirewall) but I am not sure how to use it properly, help would be appreciated.
If you use avast antivirus the Web Shield will bypass the outbound rules you have set up in Tinywall, Windows firewall and other Windows firewall controllers, and some other third party firewalls. In the avast settings you would have to check "Scan traffic from well-known browser processes only", or disable Web scanning altogether. From the FAQs http://tinywall.pados.hu/faq.php Other than that, I don't know. I'm not presently using Tinywall. I really liked it but I wasn't ready to give up avast and find another antivirus that would work with it without compromising one or the other.
http://tinywall.pados.hu/download.php you need Framework, wether 3.0 from vista or actual 4.0 for win7 (which already has 3.5). so your point of view is not so relevant to this. FrameWork v4 is need for lot of software - newest or years ago since it was released. HTH
Just about to install TinyWall on one of our PCs. Is there a learning mode to invoke for the first day or so seeing the PC is 'clean'? Any suggested best practices when using TinyWall?
Please don't use the learning mode unless you are behind a router or you are sure your Windows is fully patched at least. It is like running without a firewall. I put my posts there on the TinyWall thread lately, heeding not to unblock from Connections window. Also you should not password protect the user interface. There is a lots to be learned from the betatesting TinyWall thread.
