I think it's time for a new Beta version as this Build is working very well for me on 2 Machines XP Pro SP3 and Vista Ultimate SP1. I'm not having any glitches at all, doesn't mean anyone else isn't but as for me working very, very Good!

I think calling the beta build stable is a bit far fetched when you have 2 forums with about 7 pages of posts that are mainly people having problems. The 2nd beta build is far from overdue. ESET seriously need some kind of bug tracker/feature tracker where we can post tickets for their beta phases. The LAST thing I want to do as a developer is swim through 7 pages of 2 forums to try and find which are bugs, features and which are just appraisal.

I'd like to see a new build as well. I would think most of the obvious bugs have been identified. I am currently running v3 until there is a new build. I have reported my issues and have no more reason to continue with the current one. When there is a new build I will go back to testing it. ;)

So , you think ESET developers are here reading the forums ?
I think it is ESET Mods who are supposed to keep tracks of what is posted here , not the developers themselves.

One can see that the current BETA version has "License valid until" ... 2nd March . Although one can't be 100% sure I doubt we'll see new build until the end of February/beginning of March

Another good reason for a new beta is that beta 1 is not yet feature complete.

According to the "Known Issues" list in the changelog the following features are currently not yet implemented (highlighted in bold):

    User Interface

    * Incorrect displaying of info about the latest log and number of files in quarantine Thunderbird add-on
    * Support for Mozilla Thunderbird v2.0.0
    * Anti-Spam for IMAP – Works correctly only when "Make the messages in my Inbox available when I am working offline" option is enabled
    * Activity monitor disappears ~2 weeks after installation

    SysInspector

    * Front-end for cleaning functions of ESET SysInspector is not yet available
    * Status bar redesign to follow
    * Incorrect report of rootkits on some systems running Windows Vista

    E-Mail Clients

    * Compatibility issues with Windows Live Mail BETA
    * Compatibility issues after import of accounts from Windows Mail to Windows Live Mail when running Microsoft Windows Vista
    * Power Users on Microsoft Windows 2000 are unable to change some settings (Anti-spam, protocols, Mail Clients rotection, etc.)

    Updater

    * The username and password embedded in the installer must be used to download updates
    * Button “Copy PCU to Mirror” is not working
    * Registration dialog is not final

    SysRescue

    * Check for operating system's service pack level is not taken into account with Microsoft Windows XP
    * Some settings are not visible when running High Contrast Mode
    * EnumOS
    * Unable to find Windows XP, if a Windows Vista volume bootloader is presenter on Windows XP/2000
    * Issue with the interpretation of RDISC parameter in boot.ini > result > bad volume determination

    Firewall

    * Support for UAC (under Windows Vista) and switch to Administrator privileges is not implemented
    * Issues with data control under SLL when running Internet Explorer 7 on Vista
    * SSL v.2 check is not implemented
    * Missing root certificate import to non-IE browsers
    * Filtering of http addresses according to user missing
    * FW filter according to user/time missing
    * SSL support for Opera Software's Opera Web Browser not fully implemented

    Other

    * Scanning of 2GB+ files and archives is not finished
    * Repair installation does not work yet

It would be good to get a new beta that is feature complete so that we can help the Eset developers by reporting any issues with these new features.

With so few betas (indeed only one since November) it makes you wonder if they are taking us seriously..

A new beta with current fixes to previous issues I believe is well overdue.

    Taking this serious?

Haha, Oh I think they in fact are taking this serious. That's why there is a delay on the new Beta. Programming next generation antivirus software is not an easy task. Really. :)

It doesn't have anything to do with programming next gen technology. It has to do with how much they plan to add/fix in that specific build. I always find regular builds leading to more builds better than rare builds leading to less builds.

    Hello,

A lot of good feedback has already been received from beta testers running 4.0.068.0 and discussions about subsequent releases are currently underway.

    Regards,

Looking forward to a new beta version.

I have not been able to use this current build as it stops my internet access.

I have written here and to ESET about my problem, but have not had any resolution.

After a period of time, I find I can not access the internet. My internet stays connected according to the icon, but I have to unplug the modem and replug to get access and then it happens all over again.

No specific length of time, seems random as to how long my access stays open.

I really want to be testing this beta version but have had to go back to the current stable version.

If anyone has any ideas as to why this is happening, I would really appreciate the information.

As I have written in another thread, this seems to be a bug in V4 as i consistently have it happen as well.

Unless I missed something, nothing has changed since the point this topic was originally created, like I stated earlier, the probability is sometime this month.

The beta license doesn't expire until march. European date format.

    Hello,

There will be no more beta.

The next version will be the final.

    Cheers,
    NF
