TI2009 Daily Schedule Not Working? NAS Problem

I selected a daily backup - I see it on the Tasks and Logs screen. It says

"at 9:00AM every day". I selected "run when idle" and "if missed, run task at start up".

I created this task on June 27. It ran once on June 27. Computer starts up 8AM every day. Shuts down at 11PM every day. Backup task just sits there and says idle. It showed a green square only on Sat. when I ran it manually. It did not run Sun. or Mon.

Am I missing something? Shouldn't it run every day at 9:00AM? Since its a daily task, shouldn't there be blue squares for every day that the task is scheduled ? When I click on dates in the future it says no tasks scheduled.

I manually started this evening, the square turned blue, then green (it turned green well before it was complete) and then task went back to idle.

Very confused... since the UI seems clear, I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

Running the scheduler patch found in FAQ seems to have resolved the problem. I had to delete all tasks, reboot and recreate the tasks.

Pretty serious bug. I guess this has been a known problem for a while - wonder why fix isn't in main release?

Um, not quite working. Hope someone can provide insight...

Before the schedule patch, I created a full image and manually added 3 incrementals to it. Everything worked OK except the scheduler.

After installing the patch, I was unable to make an incremental to the existing archive. I could see the base file and the incrementals. Acronis was not happy with them.

So I deleted the archives, deleted the tasks , rebooted and attempted a full image backup again. It ran for 3 hours and then ended with another failure, probably as it was wrapping up end of backup.

    So to recap

    1. Manual backup & increment works. Schedule doesn't.
    2. Install scheduler patch
    3. Scheduler works, all image backups fail.

The time between steps 1 and 3 is hours. I am backing up to NAS. My other backup program that came free with my NAS is working fine, the drive is healthy.

I'm really sorry to see acronis take a dive like this. it is relatively rare for an essential backup component to suffer from so many issues. I don't like leaving work and coming home to more work.

Re: TI2009 Daily Schedule Not Working? NAS Problem...

ok - maybe some progress. I backup to a NAS. The NAS is a mapped drive X:. When you select a target archive the archive shows up as X:\backup\acronis when you are prompted to enter a backup location.

The lastest version of Acronis struggles with a mapped drive. It must have a timeout that is set *too* short when using mapped drive facility in windows.

    I used the URI \\10.0.0.x\backup\acronis...

Acronis seems happy with this. I made through a full backup and one incremental.

Part two: I used the technical support chat. My exe was labeled 9796, but displayed 9791 in about screen. They gave me a *new* 9796 that had the proper version number in the about screen.

In this version the scheduler seems to work. However, when the task completes, the boxes in the calendar stay blue (indicates pending backup) instead of green (indicates backup complete).

These bugs are too easy to find - I am not an SQA engineer. Quality must have been outsourced to low bidder. I have mixed feelings - I'm a long time user of older Acronis. It was good. New Acronis made some bad decisions with the product, I bet they thought they were saving money. I've been developer for 30 years. I see this all the time.

There will be consequences for unstable program operation, opening market opportunities for someone better. No tears from me. The backup software market is now filled with bloated crapware. Let the best man win.
