Does TI compare the data it writes to the backup media to the original data at the time it writes it or before it closes the backup? Thanks.

    Hello Phil,

Thank you for your interest in Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Acronis True Image takes a snapshot of the drive and then copies the data from this snapshot to the image. It means that all the data, in fact, is taken before the image writing starts. You may read the following article about how snapshot technology works. It should answer your questions.

    Thank you.

    Hi Ilya,

Does this mean neither the snapshot or the image is ever compared back to the original data?

    Hello Phil,

No, Acronis True Image doesn't compare the data it captured to the data stored on the disk. The main reason why it is not done is because while the image is being created the data may change considerably and you would get the message that the data in the image is different from the one on your disk. However, the technology itself is designed so that the data corruption is impossible during the snapshot obtaining.

    Thank you.
