I'm in the process of evaluating ATI Home 2009. My intention is to backup folders for one NAS in my home network to another NAS in the same network.

On my first backup attempt, I am receiving errors stating: 'Failed to backup file or folder 'FOLDERNAME'. An error occurred while reading a file. The backed up file in the backup may be corrupt and will not be restored correctly.' The error is occuring for every folder in the backup.

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit. Although I am new to this OS, I do know my way around PC's in general. The user with which I am logged in to Windows appears to have sufficient privileges on the network drives. (This was validated by performing a simple folder copy from the source to the location.)

Could it be that Vista is trying to run the backup with a different user account, more specifically one that has insufficient privileges on the NAS, or is there some other problem?
Can I schedule/run the backup with a different user account, and if so, how would I go about doing this?

Thanks in advance.

So far, two days of my 15 day trial period have gone by, and I am yet to success in making my first successfull backup from my NAS device.

Normally I am not this patient, but I really want this to work.

A search in google with the error code [0x40019] has given me exactly 3 hits. Two posts from this forum, and one from a German QNAP forum:

https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=165760
https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=172156

Judging by the latter, which seems to be a situation closely realted to my own, it appears as if this an old pain that they are simply not able to resolve.

I guess I better start looking for an alternate backup tool.

Regards,

Do you have the same problem if you try to backup the NAS folder(s) to a local drive instead of another NAS?

Are you using mapped drive letters or full UNC paths?

Backup from either of the NAS devices to the PC fails with the same error. Backup from PC to either NAS device is successful.

I've tried both UNC paths and mapped drive letters, both without success.

I've done some additional testing, and backing up from a Win XP x64 machine in the lan, through UNC paths works without problems.

Finally! After 10 days of trial and error, I was able to successfully make a backup from one NAS to another.

The key to all this? The backup archive file type. After I switched my archive file type frim TIB to ZIP, I am no longer receiving the error massage that I am getting with the TIB files.

It almost makes me conclude that ATI is using imagine functionality whenever you select the TIB fily type, even if you are performing a file and folder backup.

Hello all,

Thank you for your interesting in Acronis True Image

The issue can be related to long path of files/folders you are going to backup from NAS device. Try to shorten it and see if the issue persists.

If the issue related backup from NAS to PC persists submit support case with details using the following link http://www.acronis.com/company/contacts/request/index.html?t=2

Best regards,

I'm having the same problem with TI Home 2009. I'm trying to backup folders that are on a QNAP TS409 NAS. Same problem for folders on a Netgear NAS.

The log has this entry:

<event id="4" level="4" module="4" code="1" time="1231368354" message="Error reading the file. (0x40001)
Tag = 0xFBA06F330018D85A
Failed to backup file or folder. (0x40019)
Path = "\\?\UNC\Qnapnasacc11c\Al",
Hints = 1)
Tag = 0xA8A1022BD18AE2B1
The request is not supported (0xFFF0)
code = 80070032)
Tag = 0xBD28FDBD64EDB8B9" />

Like the OP, if I choose the archive type as ZIP, the task runs successfully.

Fix??

Hello AJ500,

Thank you for your interesting in Acronis True Image

Make sure the user account on the NAS, under which you are trying to backup to it, belongs to the Administrator group. The Administrator group should also belong to READ/WRITE group. Set backup archive splitting to 2 Gb:

1. Click "Tools" and select "Options";
2. Click "Archive splitting" and set the size to 2 GB.

Best regards,

Having a similar problem backing up from a NAS (synology diskstation ) to a PC, I have tried UNC and drive mapping but still have the problem, also tried splitting the archive.

below is an extract from the log ..

<event code="1" id="3" level="4" message="Failed to backup file or folder 'photo'.
An error occurred while reading a file. The backed up file in the backup may be corrupted and will not be restored correctly.: None" module="4" time="1234816516" />

I see that some people refer to backing up to a ZIP file instead of TIB?
Unfortunately I cant see where you can choose this option.

Backup from a PC to the NAS works fine.

Any help would be much appreciated.

What is the exact version of the program and the build number? What is your operating system?

Thank you.

Hi Oleg,

I'm running a trial version of Acronis true image 2009 on a Windows vista home premium OS.

Backing up from the PC to my Synology DS107 NAS works fine, however a backup from the NAS to a drive on my PC gives the error I posted.

On the PC and NAS I am using a user with administrator privileges.

Versions:
Acronis TI build 12.0.0.9709
Synology DS107 NAS uses a linux based OS.

Thanks in advance !

Hello andyd,

Thank you for using Acronis True Image

Code:
<event code="1" id="3" level="4" message="Failed to backup file or folder 'photo'. An error occurred while reading a file. The backed up file in the backup may be corrupted and will not be restored correctly.: None" module="4" time="1234816516" />
Code:
Acronis TI build 12.0.0.9709
It is a known issue when the program generates the above error message. Our developers have improved the scripts, our QA is testing it. The fix may be available in the next released build.

Thank you.
